Released in 1984 under the direction of Neil Jordan ("The Crying Game," "Interview With a Vampire" "The Butcher Boy") on a budget of £2.3 million with distribution from ITC Entertainment; "The Company of Wolves" is a surreal gothic fantasy-horror film based off the work of feminist fantasy author Angela Carter. It's a funny world we live in when you learn about movies from posters in textbooks, right? That's how I learned about this movie's existence, it was in my Film History textbook from my film school training and the image on the poster was so freaky and yet so fascinating, I just had to check it out.
